The Department of Art offers students a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art.
- 36 credits in art studio, art theory and art history required courses
- 12 additional credits in supporting area: Art History
- total of 48 major required credits
Undergraduate Major Requirements
The Following courses are required for a B.A degree:
Foundation Level:(15 credits)
- ARTT100 or 250
- ARTT110 Elements of Drawing I
- ARTT150 Introduction to Art Theory
- ARTT200 3-Dimensional Fundamentals
- ARTT210 Elements of Drawing II
Intermediate (9 credits) Choose one course each from three of these four areas:
- ARTT320 Painting
- ARTT 3__ Sculpture (330 or 331 or 332 or 333)
- ARTT 3__ Printmaking (340,341,342,343, or 344)
- ARTT 3__ Design (350 or 351 or 352)
Advanced Studies(12 credits):
- ARTT418 Advanced Drawing (418 A,B,C OR D, etc)
- ARTT4__ Art Theory (460, 461, 462, 489, 489H or 468)
- ARTT(300/400)Choice of upper level Studio or Design courses
- ARTT(400)Choice of upper level Studio or Design courses
Supporting Area: Art History (12 credits required: 6 credits must be 300/400 level):
- ARTH 200 Art of the Western World I
- ARTH 201 Art of the Western World II
- Choice...300/400 Art Theory or Art History (Arth 350 recomm.)
- Choice...300/400 Art Theory or Art History (Arth 350 recomm.)
All grades for courses being used toward the MAJOR and SUPPORTING area must be 'C' or higher.
