The Art Department at the University of Maryland recognizes the importance of tools to enhance the work of student artists. The Department of Art strives to provide students with physical equipment in the forms of both traditional fine art and computer labs and studio space, as well as providing a plethora of academic resources including galleries, an extensive art library, and a variety of online resources. Students in the art department have the opportunity to learn from the work of other artists, as well as apply their creativity to their own projects through the use of the Department of Art facilities.

The Electronic Media Center
The EMC houses the department's computer imaging facilities. EMC website
The Art Library
The Art Library houses a collection of over 92,000 volumes covering art history, archaeology and studio arts, including photography and graphic design. The Art Library is located on the main floor of the Art & Sociology Building. The flat files in the Art Library contain examples of work by faculty and past graduate students as a archive and reference for current students and faculty.

Campus Galleries:
The Art Gallery presents innovative exhibition programs that complements and enhances the University's academic offerings and collects a permanent art collection for study, research and exhibition.

The Herman Maril Gallery
The Herman Maril Gallery is a student-run gallery in the Art/Sociology Building, it features exhibitions curated, organized and promoted by undergraduates and graduate students within the Department of Art

The Union Gallery
The Union Gallery features the work of local artists of all disciplines, utilizes student involvement for its programming, and can be used by other departments and groups.
