The Department of Art Design Concentration
The Area of Concentration in Design in the Department of Art consists of four Òessential courses which aim at providing sufficient knowledge and technical skill in graphic design, to allow our students to professionally perform in a swiftly evolving discipline. These courses are:
- ARTT 350 - Elements of Design
- ARTT 351 - Elements of Graphic Design and Illustration
- ARTT 352 - Elements of Three-Dimensional Graphics
- ARTT 458 - Graphic Design and Illustration
Other supporting courses in three-dimensional design, computer graphics and photography are highly recommended to students who wish to develop their interest in this discipline. Portfolio submission required.
Due to the increasing student demand in the Design Area, permission of the Department through portfolio review is mandatory to be able to enroll in the above listed courses. Please refer to the brochure ÒDesign ConcentrationÓ, available at the Department of Art Office, for details and deadlines. Students enrolled in the Department of Art and wishing to pursue a concentration in the Design Area are required to submit a portfolio. They also must have completed (or be enrolled in) Foundation courses in the Department of Art: ARTT 100; ARTT 110; ARTT 150; ARTT 200; ARTT 210, or receive Department permission to submit a portfolio.
The Department of Art encourages students to consider application to the Design Concentration. It is the Departments hope that this area will provide a highly rewarding educational experience in visual communication to qualified and motivated students who wish to evolve professionally in the ever-growing field of graphic design.
